Who would have thought that you could affectively and academically apply emoji use in teaching and learning!? I didn’t, that’s for sure; but I stumbled upon an interesting article explaining the ways one academic has found them to be very useful in her research and teaching! The article Why I use emoji in research and teaching by Jennifer Fane at The Conversation is well worth a read if you are interested in finding out useful ways of bringing emojis into your class.

Look What You Made Me Do – Decoding Taylor Swifts New Music Video

Shaking up her image after a serious of public battles with celebrities like Katy Perry and Kanye West, Taylor Swift has dropped her new song Look What You Made Me Do for her upcoming album Reputation.

Judging by the lyrics and accompanying music video,  Swift is set to be taking this album in a very different direction to her previous, 1989. A number of references are made to her relationships and fueds, and the video is heavily loaded with symbolism and connections to her past. Welcome to my blog exploring literacy and its presence in the everyday!

This blog will be used to explore the topic of literacy and the approaches that are taken by people, myself included, when creating and interpreting meanings in communication of the contemporary society. This will be explored through a range of modalities to demonstrate just how diverse and wide-reaching literacy is in the everyday lives of the modern produsers of literacy.
